What to include

The more we know, the faster we can help. Please tell us your phone model, your iOS or Android version, the Kiatu version (shown at the bottom of Settings › Help and legal), what you were doing, and add a screenshot if you can. Please do not email passwords.

Emails to support are kept so we can answer you and follow up. See the Privacy Policy.

Quick answers

How do I reset my password?

On the sign-in screen tap Forgot password, enter your email, and open the link we send. It opens a page where you choose a new password (the link only works for a short time; ask for a fresh one if it has expired). Check your spam folder if nothing arrives.

I forgot which email I used

Search your inbox for a welcome or verification message from support@kiatu.run; it went to the address on your account. Still not sure? Email us and we will check whether a particular address has an account. We will not give out other people’s details.

How do I delete my account and data?

In the app: Settings › Account › Delete my account, then type DELETE to confirm. Your account and the data in it are deleted straight away, and the phone is cleared. It cannot be undone.

Apple Health data stays in the Health app (revoke access in iPhone Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Kiatu), and Strava keeps its own copy. Can’t sign in? Email us from the address on the account. More in the Privacy Policy.

Apple Watch or Apple Health is not showing data (or sleep)
  • On your iPhone open Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Kiatu and make sure the categories you want (workouts, sleep, heart rate and so on) are on.
  • Open the Health tab in Kiatu and tap Sync (or pull down to refresh).
  • Sleep needs sleep tracking turned on on your Apple Watch (Sleep Focus set up in the Health or Watch app) and the watch worn overnight.
  • Unlock your phone: Health data is not readable while the iPhone is locked, so a sync can come up empty.
  • Still nothing? Check the Health app itself shows the data. If it does not, Kiatu cannot see it either.
Live Run lost distance or GPS
  • Set Kiatu’s Location to While Using or Always in iPhone Settings › Kiatu › Location, and keep Precise Location on.
  • Low Power Mode and tunnels, tall buildings or heavy tree cover can weaken GPS. Give the phone a few seconds with a clear sky view before you start.
  • If GPS missed part of the run, you can type the right distance when you save it.
  • Not fixed? Tell us what phone and iOS you have.
Strava: connect, disconnect, uploads
  • Connect from the Run tab; you choose what to allow on Strava’s page.
  • Disconnect in Settings › Strava › Disconnect. Runs imported from Strava are then deleted from Kiatu.
  • Kiatu brings runs from Strava; it does not upload runs to Strava.
  • Strava runs cannot be shared as a picture from Kiatu (Strava’s rules). Share them from Strava instead.
How does Kiatu handle my data?

Short answers: it is never sold, health data is never used for advertising, and you choose what to connect. Details: Privacy Policy, Data consent (switch off each kind of data), and Terms of Use.

How do I share my run as a picture?

Open a run and choose the share option to make a picture with your stats, route and shoe in a few looks. Share it from the share sheet or save it to Photos. By default about 200 m is cut from both ends of the route so your home is not shown; you can switch that off. The picture is made on your phone and goes nowhere unless you share it. Runs that came from Strava cannot be shared this way.

Can I export my data?

There is no export button in the app yet. Email support@kiatu.run from the address on your account and we will send you a copy of the data we hold about you.

Restore purchases

Kiatu is free right now, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to restore. If that ever changes, Restore purchases will be in the app’s Settings, and refunds go through Apple or Google.

Report a bug or suggest a shoe

Report a bug (what you did, what you expected, what happened, and a screenshot) or suggest a shoe (brand, model and version; a link to the maker’s page helps). You can also add a shoe of your own in the app straight away.
